We believe that the quality, value and impact of our research is determined by our public and patient involvement and engagement (PPIE) activity. To plan and carry out our research we find ways to involve communities who are at the greatest risk from the diseases we study, with the ultimate aim of reducing health inequalities.
We have a strong track record of promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in research, and in our workforce.
Our capacity development efforts focus on addressing gaps by creating new positions and development opportunities.
We acknowledge that these three areas – Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion; Public Involvement; and Capacity Development – are fundamental to the NIHR Leicester BRC and CRF, and they are interconnected rather than mutually exclusive.
