The NIHR Leicester BRC is pleased to welcome Professor of Respiratory Medicine Dominick Shaw to our Respiratory and Infection theme.
Professor Shaw joins us from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust where he ran the severe asthma service and managed the clinical respiratory service throughout the pandemic.
He will bring his extensive experience in asthma, airways disease and respiratory emergencies to the Leicester BRC, where he will continue his research into severe and difficult asthma, health data and medical technology. Dom will also be working alongside University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) clinical colleagues in the respiratory service at Glenfield Hospital.
Dominick said: “I obtained my research degree at the University of Leicester and UHL so this feels like a return to old ground for me as well as an exciting new start. I look forward to working with new research and clinical colleagues across the BRC and Trust on studies that advance our understanding of respiratory conditions and make a real difference to our patients’ health.”
In any spare time, as well as captaining his water polo team, Professor Shaw will continue to run a clinic into rare cystic lung disease in Nottingham as well as working to help people sleeping rough in the city to access support for their respiratory conditions.
