Colleagues from our Data Innovation for Multiple Long-Term Conditions & Ethnic Health theme enjoyed a day of problem-solving around the streets of Leicester as they tackled the Mystery of King Richard’s secret, as part of the NIHR Leicester BRC’s Half Time Celebrations.
On 22 July 2025, researchers from our Data theme gathered at Jubilee Square to take on The Mystery of King Richard’s Secret Note themed challenge. To solve it they had to follow clues and solve puzzles across Leicester city centre.
The activity provided an opportunity for staff from different research groups to work together in a different setting, encouraging strategic thinking, teamwork, and clear communication.
It was also a chance for colleagues to connect with the wider team and build stronger working relationships.
The day concluded with a group lunch where the team had time to reflect and share their experiences.
Professor Laura Gray, co-lead of the Data theme shared, “This was a great opportunity to use our analytical skills, increase our daily step count and get to know more theme members. Our theme research is heavily computer based so we all enjoyed getting out and about for the morning!”.
This event was part of a series of activities across the NIHR Leicester BRC celebrating the midpoint of five-year term, with each one recognising the contribution of our staff and supporting continued development and engagement.
