If you are in good health, can spare time to take part in a range of tests and you fit the criteria below you could take part in this Cardiovascular research study, and change the lives of patients with Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD).
- We are looking for healthy women aged 20-45 years of age who are not on any hormonal contraception and are having regular periods.
- Health peri and post menopausal women planning to start or stop HRT.
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a poorly understood condition that causes heart attack frequently in young and middle aged women, with a peak incidence in pre-menstrual, postpartum, peri and post-menopausal period.
In response to patient led research questions, we would like to establish a broad study exploring the association of sex hormones with SCAD.
Participants will be asked take part in a cardiovascular MRI, vascular ultrasound imaging, exercise testing, blood samples including for sex hormone levels and DNA analysis and clinical assessment.
