It’s not every day that you get to dance, craft, and chat with Leicester’s leading health professionals, but that’s exactly what you can do on Thursday 6 March 2025 at a vibrant International Women’s Day celebration.

Join health researchers from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) on the first floor of the Haymarket Shopping Centre on 6 March from 11am to 3pm. The free drop-in event promises to be packed with fun, creativity, and inspiration.
Visitors will be greeted with an array of activities that range from Bollywood dance performances to jewellery making and crafts. There’ll be something for everyone.
You’ll also be able to meet and speak with health researchers working to transform women’s health through pioneering studies at the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
The event also marks the launch of the NIHR Leicester BRC’s new Women’s Public Involvement Group, inviting women from across Leicester to help shape future research projects.
The organisers are keen to highlight that this isn’t just an event for women – it’s a celebration of community, collaboration, and progress. Guests can enjoy free refreshments while they explore the various activities and conversations on offer. Whether you’re curious about health advancements, eager to try Bollywood dancing, or simply looking for an enriching way to spend the afternoon, the event is designed to leave a lasting impression.
International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the achievements of women and a call to action for gender equity. The NIHR Leicester BRC’s event focuses on the critical area of women’s health, aiming to inspire action and bring awareness to the research being conducted locally that has a global impact.
No registration is required to attend, so simply drop by the Haymarket Shopping Centre between 11am and 3pm to join in. Bring your friends, family, and plenty of curiosity to this one-of-a-kind event that combines celebration with purpose.
Let’s celebrate women, together.
