An NIHR Leicester BRC study of almost 8,000 heart failure patients around the world has identified predictors that could help doctors identify the patients most likely to improve, helping them to make clinical decisions.
The predictive model using five predictors (below) for Heart Failure with Improved Ejection Fraction discovered by the University of Leicester’s Dr Thong Huy Cao, et al. could more accurately predict improvers and be easily applied in clinical practice.
“The five predictors are absence of ischaemic heart disease and left bundle branch block, smaller left ventricular end-systolic diameter and left atrial diameter, and higher platelet count at baseline.”
