New name and identity for a service dedicated to involving patients and the public in vascular research

Sep 9, 2026

The UK Vascular Research PPIE Registry has officially become ‘Community Voices in Vascular Research’, accompanied by the launch of a new logo and visual identity.

Supported by the vascular research team at University of Leicester, the service has adopted its new name to better reflect the range of people whose experiences, views and insights help shape vascular research. The change also provides greater flexibility in how the service engages with communities and individuals whose voices are not always represented in research.

While the name is changing, the service’s purpose remains the same: supporting meaningful patient and public involvement in vascular research and helping ensure that research is informed by the people it aims to benefit.

The news comes in September which marks Vascular Disease Awareness Month and just as posters showing the name change go up in GP surgeries across the city and county.

Patient and Public Involvement Coordinator, Imelda Black said: “The name ‘Community Voices in Vascular Research’ better reflects what we do and the people we work with. We want to create more opportunities for people from different backgrounds and with different experiences to contribute to vascular research.

“Although our name and branding are changing, our commitment remains the same. We will continue to support researchers and work alongside patients and members of the public to help shape high-quality vascular research.”

The service will continue to connect researchers with patients, carers and members of the public who can contribute valuable lived experience to research studies. The new identity also supports a broader and more flexible approach to involvement, creating opportunities to engage with people in ways that work best for them.

There will be no disruption to existing PPI services during the transition. Researchers, contributors and partner organisations can continue to use the service and website as usual, while other resources and materials are updated.

Updated information leaflets, posters and other resources featuring the new branding will be made available in the coming months.

‘Community Voices in Vascular Research’ looks forward to building on the strong foundations established through the PPIE Registry and continuing to support high-quality, patient-centred vascular research.
